July

It is the end of July and the middle of summer. It has been a rather rainy summer and the temperatures have been cooler then expected, which I have enjoyed. This week, however, is much hotter. While I'm not a huge fan of hot weather, I have some friends who are undoubtedly enjoying it.

July was a pretty quiet month. I had a couple Sunday School meetings, one with my assistant and the other with the elder of Sunday School. Both meetings went well and I think things are on track to be ready by fall. It's nice to have people who say they will take care of things and know that they will indeed take care of the things.

There was a bridal shower for my friend's daughter. It was a small gathering; mostly family and some friends who are like family. I'm very happy for my young friend and her upcoming marriage; I'm a little sad that she's going to be moving north after the wedding.

We acquired a pile of new books for the church library, mostly for children. There were a couple good sales that we couldn't pass up and the remains of the budget that had to be spent by the end of summer; it was a good combination!

The rest of the month has been pretty quiet. I've read a lot. I've been working on Sunday School curriculum, learning more church history, and some other stuff for the church. There has been a bit of tutoring, but not much as the kids are sometimes away for camps and such. I take care of my garden (several pots of flowers and vegetables on my balcony) and enjoy watching things grow and start to bloom. Overall, it's been a nice month.
